Residents Should Expect DOES to Read Water Meters

Posted on September 19, 2016 at 4:30 PM by Emily Adams

Water MeterHudson residents should expect requests from the Summit County Department of Environmental Services (DOES) to read their water meters. DOES must do so in order to determine sewer charges. The DOES workers wear uniforms and ID badges to identify who they are. Please call DOES at 330-926-2400 with any questions.

Important Changes in Your Trash Hauling Services

Posted on March 21, 2016 at 9:47 AM by Jody Roberts

Hudson City Council recently approved a new Preferred Trash Hauler Program that will offer lower costs for services and limit the pickup day in each neighborhood to one day a week. The program goes into effect May 1. Based on a bidding process, Republic Services was selected as the Preferred Hauler.

Selection of preferred hauler is optional.
Selecting Republic Services as your trash hauler is optional. You may select the hauler of your choice. You may find that the quantity of services and lower cost of this program may suit your needs better than your current option. If you keep your current hauler, you still may find that your pickup day will change. Just like any resident, homeowners associations can keep their contracted hauler, but the trash pickup day may change.

Trash day may change.
Whether you become a Republic Services customer or keep your current hauler, the day of the week that your trash is picked up may change, based on a quadrant system implemented by the City. All trash haulers will be limited to pick up trash one day of the week in each City quadrant. Here is the quadrant schedule. Visit our website to view a quadrant map.

• Southeast Quadrant: Monday
• Southwest Quadrant: Tuesday
• Northwest Quadrant: Wednesday
• Northeast Quadrant: Thursday

Standard service is $49.86 per quarter.
Based on an agreement with the City, Republic Services is offering a standard service package that includes regular trash and recycling pickup, as well as removal of bulk items and yard waste at $49.86 per quarter. The standard service comes with a 96-gallon trash cart as well as a 65-gallon recycling cart on wheels for easy transport to the curb. The recycling is single stream, meaning that you do not need to separate types of recyclables or paper/cardboard. Republic also will offer a lower level of service at a lower price for those who feel they do not have much trash to dispose of. Additional services also are available, so check with Republic for details about their services and service options. Lower levels of service are offered at a reduced price, and additional services are also available.

Do I have to call to sign up even if I'm already a customer?

Even if you are currently a customer of Republic, they would like you to call to confirm the level of service you wish to have and to arrange for delivery of the new trash carts. Call Republic Services at 1-800-247-3644 to set up your Preferred Hauler account.
