For the seventh year in a row, Hudson City Schools will be joining schools from across the country to celebrate National Bike/Walk to School Day on Wednesday, May 10. Safe Routes Hudson encourages students who live 1 to 2 miles from school and have a safe path to participate. Not only does biking to work or school promote healthy habits among children and adults but it also helps the environment, decreases traffic congestion, leads to safer streets and creates a sense of community.
Parents and students living in the “Walk Zone” can pre-plan which route to take with the Safe Routes Hudson map. Helmets, reflective clothing and cautious walking and riding are encouraged.
There will be parent volunteers and an increased police presence in the neighborhoods surrounding Hudson Schools. Participants will receive water bottles and Clif Bars and have a chance to enter for raffle prizes. Say hi to the Hudson Police Officers while you’re on your way!
