Economic Development The City of Hudson has earned a national reputation as one of the best places in the Midwest for employers to do business and for families to live and work. Located just 30 minutes between the two major metropolitan areas of Cleveland and Akron, Ohio, Hudson is a superior community with an exceptional educational system, safe family-oriented neighborhoods, and a skilled, educated workforce. Hudson is located within driving distance of 32 private and public colleges and universities, world-class healthcare facilities and parks, wildlife preserves, and recreational and cultural venues. Hudson Economic Growth Board In 2006, Hudson City Council established the Hudson Economic Growth Board to help further City Council’s economic development philosophy. This philosophy includes lowering the City’s cost structure (fiscal responsibility and holding the line on taxes), removing competitive barriers (streamlining the process, ensuring fair fee structures), maintaining Hudson’s character, and establishing performance measures for economic development growth. The board’s mission is to work with City government and the community to foster free enterprise and develop a diversified, sustainable business base for Hudson, thereby ensuring a vibrant economy for the long-term benefit of Hudson’s residents, schools, and businesses. The Hudson Economic Growth Board acts as a liaison to the business community by visiting existing businesses, attracting new businesses that will enhance our community, and assisting businesses that are willing to expand in Hudson.
