Hudson EMS The Hudson Emergency Medical Service is celebrating more than 25 years of service to the Hudson community. Staffed predominately by community volunteers and supported by a staff of full and part time career personnel, EMS provides full advanced life support transport ambulance service to the City of Hudson. Covering 25 square miles and a population of 23,000 people, EMS responds to approximately 1,500 emergency "911" calls per year. Hudson EMS has state-of-the-art equipment, including three transporting ambulances and two paramedic rapid response vehicles, new technology biphasic twelve lead cardiac monitor/defibrillators, and a full range of advanced airway and trauma care equipment. A standard crew of three, made up of drivers, emergency medical technicians, and paramedics, responds with each ambulance. Crews are stationed at the Hudson Safety Center on South Oviatt Street. EMS
transports to Akron area hospitals, including Akron General Medical Center,
Akron City Hospital, Saint Thomas Hospital, Cuyahoga Falls General Hospital,
Akron Children's Medical Center, and Robinson Memorial Hospital. EMS is
funded by the income tax and a fee for service which is charged to insurance
companies. When medically appropriate, Hudson EMS can facilitate transport
to Cleveland area hospitals through the use of a private ambulance.
