Auxiliary Police Unit
Members of the Hudson Auxiliary Police Unit have the opportunity to obtain training and experience in numerous areas of law enforcement. Candidates who apply for the Auxiliary Unit must meet the following requirements:

must be at least 18 years of age;

must be a high school graduate or equivalent;

must be in good health and able to pass physical, drug and psychological screenings administered through the City’s application process at no cost to applicants;

must have a valid Ohio driver’s license and acceptable driving record;

must not have any criminal record;

will be required to sign a release for a complete background investigation to include inquiries into criminal history, driver’s license and driving record, law enforcement records, employment history and performance, and any other checks deemed necessary;

applicants who successfully pass the background investigation may be called for a panel interview; and
-
selected candidates will be required to submit to medical, psychological, and drug tests provided by the City prior to appointment.
Selected candidates appointed as Auxiliary Officers for the City of Hudson are non-commissioned and unarmed officers; however, they are permitted to carry Department-issued handcuffs when on duty and in uniform to assist Patrol Officers, if requested. Auxiliary members are also permitted to carry Department-issued OC pepper spray when in uniform following required departmental training. All uniforms and training are provided to the Auxiliary Unit without charge by the Hudson Police Department. Qualified Auxiliary Officers are encouraged to:
Successful candidates appointed as Auxiliary Officers for the City of Hudson will be expected to:

make a minimum one-year commitment of participation with this Unit, in fairness to the expense incurred in selecting, training, and equipping new Auxiliary Officers.
