Bike Officers patrol congested traffic areas, parks or locations where access by car is limited. The officers ride specialized mountain bikes that can be used day or night. The Bike Unit also works with Hudson Schools and other organizations to promote bike safety.

Bike Patrol officers attend a nationally certified bicycle instructional course, consisting of a minimum of 40 hours of training. The training addresses fitness and nutrition, off-road riding, suspect contact and approaches, bicycle patrol tactics, obstacle clearing, firearm techniques and many other police-related strategies that can be accomplished with the use of a bicycle.
