SR 91 North Turn Lane Improvements (PID 93822)
Project Update 2/1/18
The City of Hudson will host an open house public information meeting February 15, 2018 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Barlow Community Center, 41 S. Oviatt Street. The purpose of this public involvement meeting is to present updates on the project to the general public, residents, business and property owners and public officials and to solicit public comments about the project’s potential social, economic, and environmental impacts. Since the April 2016 Public Involvement Meeting, a Preferred Alternative for the widening has been selected, and the project plans and right-of-way requirements have been refined. No formal presentation will be made; however, the project plans will be on display. Personnel from the City of Hudson Engineering Department and ms consultants, inc., the project design consultant, will be available to discuss the project as well as address any questions and concerns you may have regarding the project.
Right-of-way acquisition is anticipated to begin in 2018 and be completed in 2019. The project is expected to be constructed in 2019-2020. Information regarding the right-of-way acquisition timeline, construction schedule, and the project cost estimate will be available at the meeting. Technical studies of ecological resources (streams, wetlands, endangered species habitats) and cultural resources (historic buildings and districts) have been conducted and coordinated with appropriate federal and state agencies. These studies will be available for review at the meeting.
Please see attached media release, overview map and intersection plans for additional information below:
The SR 91 North Turn Lane Improvement project design includes the addition of left turn lanes at Valley View Road, Herrick Park Drive & Hines Hill Road, resurfacing of SR 91 from Brandywine Drive to Middleton Road, the installation of a sidewalk on the east side of the road, and bike lanes on both sides of the road from Brandywine Drive to Middleton Road.
Purpose and Need
The purpose of this project is to improve safety, reduce congestion, provide better pedestrian and bicycle mobility, and improve drainage and long-term pavement conditions on SR 91 (Darrow Road) between Brandywine and Middleton Road.
In 2016, the City and MS Consultants (design firm), finalized a feasibility study which evaluated potential widening alternatives for the project. Detailed design of the project is now taking place. Right-of-way acquisition is anticipated in 2018 and construction of the project is currently scheduled for 2019-2020.
