Did you know the City has a full-time state registered, forester board certified, tree risk assessment qualified master arborist on staff who can help you with your tree/forestry needs? The City arborist sets up private consultations with residents when needed to offer expert advice on private tree care, to determine the overall health of their trees, and to assess the safety of the residents and their homes.
The City arborist works to keep the 14,000 plus trees along Hudson's 350 lane miles and the thousands of trees on the other hundreds of acres and green space throughout the City in a safe, healthy condition. Each tree within the public road right-of-way is inventoried in the City’s Geographical Information System and can be viewed online.
Along with helping out residents and preserving tree health, our arborist works with Hudson Public Power to schedule the removal of trees that are endangering the 100 miles of overhead electrical wires throughout the City. These trees may be in danger of falling on the wires or may have overhanging limbs too close to the wires. The trees are continually assessed and the ones that may cause problems are inventoried for removal the following year. A list of scheduled tree removals can always be found on the City’s website.
Residents who have questions or concerns about their trees are invited to call the Public Works department to speak with the City arborist at 330-342-1750.
