Please don’t fall victim to a phone scam. Hudson residents are receiving calls that the Caller ID identifies as from the City of Hudson. The caller then tries to sell insurance or other products and phishes for personal info. When asked about why the Caller ID says City of Hudson, they hang up. This is a new trend in phone scams, where scammers mimic phone numbers of legitimate companies.
Please be aware the City of Hudson does not make unsolicited calls to residents to sell products. Never provide personal or bank information over the phone, no matter how legitimate they sound. If you get an unsolicited or suspicious call from someone saying they’re from the City, hang up and call us directly at any number listed on our official website to make sure you’re not being scammed. We won’t mind your call to check. We’d rather you be safe and keep your personal identity safe.
And as a reminder, it’s tax season, so fraudulent IRS calls are also on the rise nationwide. Like the City, the IRS doesn’t call taxpayers, threaten people with arrest, or ask for personal information by phone.
