[ARCHIVED] HPD Supports Local Charities With No Shave November

No Shave November 2018

No Shave November began as an effort to raise cancer awareness by embracing hair that many cancer patients lose during treatment. This November, the Hudson Police Department (HPD) put down their razors and raised money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (Northern Ohio) and the Hudson Food Pantry, located in Rejoice Lutheran Church. HPD also extended the program into December, with a bonus month of January.

Officers who wanted to participate made donations for each month they continued to grow a beard. As a result, HPD collected $1,635 for the selected charities. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society received $1,000 and the Hudson Food Pantry received $635.

“This is fun way to raise money for two very important causes,” said Police Chief Perry Tabak. “We had nearly 100% participation, and I appreciate everyone who participated in No Shave November to help us give back to the community.”
