Ellsworth Meadows Golf Club, owned and operated by the City of Hudson, made several improvements to the course last year that will enhance the golfing experience for golfers this season.
The newly redesigned 9th Hole opened last season to great reviews. The hole was redesigned to make way for the new hike-and-bike trail along Barlow Road that will be constructed as part of the City’s Connectivity Plan. Alterations to the hole will help alleviate safety issues around the trail and increase safety in the clubhouse area.
Ellsworth also finished the construction of paved cart paths that will allow golfers to play in wet turf areas. Normally golfers can’t use carts during wet conditions because they cause excessive turf damage. The course experiences lost revenue when carts are not allowed on the course. With paved cart paths, golfers can ride carts nearly every day. Ellsworth saw a $15,000 increase in revenue within the first two months of the cart path completion. The paved paths also will save wear and tear on the golf cart fleet and golf maintenance equipment.
This year, Ellsworth Meadows installed a new point-of-sale system that went live in February. The system will allow the course to offer more food and beverage options and help with daily management of the course.
