Downtown Phase II Update 6/3/19

Downtown Phase II Logo

The second of three Downtown Phase II public work sessions was held on Saturday.  Approximately 50 people attended to speak with individual council members and provide their suggestions for modifications to the Downtown Phase II plan.  Council received many thoughtful comments during that session. The comments were collected and will be added to the list of suggestions from the first work session. The list of all citizen comments is available on the City’s website (click here for list).

Council has not yet made any determination regarding as to whether it would recommend proceeding with a modified version of Downtown Phase II. Council decided to take a brief pause, and reach out again to citizens to determine if, with modifications, the plan could move forward.  Council is using these work sessions to collect and then analyze those suggestions.

For those who could not make the first two sessions, Council will hold a third session tomorrow night at the beginning of the Council meeting. The meeting has been moved to Barlow Community Center and will begin at 7:30 p.m.

On June 11, Council will begin discussions on the modifications/comments received from citizens to determine if or how modifications could be made to the project.  No date has been determined for a Council decision about Downtown Phase II.

If the project does move forward (which has not been determined yet), there would be many steps required before it could become a reality. Any modified plan would go again before Planning Commission, the Architectural and Historic Board of Review, and City Council for review and approval.
