Get the Facts: City Role in Elections

With the general election on November 5 just around the corner, people have asked what role the City plays in the election process. This year, the four City Council Ward positions and Mayor are up for election. The City plays a neutral role in the election of candidates for City Council and Mayor. The City does not endorse any candidate and does not support one candidate over another.

All candidates for municipal office must meet the requirements prescribed by law. Elections are overseen by the Ohio Secretary of State who appoints members of the local boards of election. The Summit County Board of Elections is the local entity that oversees Hudson elections for the Secretary of State.
