Hudson Mayor, Dave Basil, announced at the November 19, 2019 Meeting of Hudson City Council that the Mayor’s Senior Citizen Advisory Committee has compiled and reviewed the results of its Survey to assess the interests and needs of Hudson’s Senior Citizens. Mayor Basil further announced that, based on that work, the Committee will host a series of events and social opportunities, beginning with a Valentine’s Day themed luncheon and lecture on Wednesday, February 12, 2020. The event will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the new community space on the first floor at the new City Building on Terex Road.

Thereafter, the Committee will host events from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month, beginning February 26, 2020. The Committee also will host an open social period from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on the first and third Friday of each month, beginning February 21, 2020. All events are planned to be held in the first-floor public space at the new City Building on Terex Road.

Mayor Basil further announced that the Senior Advisory Committee has transitioned and is now an Advisory Committee to the City Manager. Meetings of the Committee will continue as previously scheduled.

“City Manager Howington is informed and knowledgeable about the work of the Committee,” commented Mayor Basil. “I am confident that with her leadership the Committee will continue to successfully pursue its mission to enable and empower Hudson’s older citizens in their pursuit of lives of engagement, opportunity and fulfillment. These steps are an important beginning, but I expect the Committee will continue to build on the experience and success of its efforts and will continue to bring forward its recommendations.”

He then went on to thank the members of the Committee for their passion, hard work and diligence in quickly advancing Hudson’s commitment to address issues of importance to its older citizens.

“Within the span of one year, we have gone from an absence of dedicated attention to these issues, to the formation of the Advisory Committee, the completion of a new Senior Services Directory, the launch of a website, the completion of a Senior Citizen Survey, two well attended social events and a definitive plan going forward for regular events and social opportunities of interest to our older citizens,” said Mayor Basil. “I could not be more proud of and more grateful for the participation, enthusiasm and dedication of the tremendous individuals who stepped forward to help lead this critical effort.”
