Prevent Car Break-Ins This Holiday Season

It’s the holiday season which is a popular time for thieves looking to steal items from cars. Like surrounding communities, Hudson sees an increase in car break ins during this time of year. Here are tips from the Hudson Police Department to help keep your valuables safe.

  • Lock your car doors and close all windows.
  • Don’t leave purses or wallets in your car when you stop at the gym or just run into the house for a moment. Take them with you or put them in the trunk.
  • Don’t leave gifts, shopping bags, or other valuable items in your car.  Put them out of view in the trunk. Use a cargo cover for SUVs and crossovers.
  • Never leave your car running and unlocked.
  • Be aware of your surroundings and don’t hesitate to call the police if you observe suspicious activity or persons. We’ve been able to stop thieves over the years when citizens call to report suspicious behavior immediately.
