[ARCHIVED] 3/13/20 Coronavirus Update from the City of Hudson

Coronavirus

HUDSON, OH (March 13, 2020) – As information continues to evolve concerning the coronavirus, COVID-19, we are constantly evaluating our actions to help protect the health and safety of our Hudson community. Our goal is to protect the health and safety of our citizens, our businesses, and our City employees. At this point, we have no reported cases of coronavirus in Hudson.

Barlow Community Center
Barlow Community Center is closed for all activities and events until further notice. Barlow will be open on Tuesday, March 17 for the Primary Election. Those who previously voted at Laurel Lake Retirement Center, will now vote at Western Reserve Christian Church. Check the Summit County Board of Elections website for the most up-to-date information: https://www.summitcountyboe.gov/.

City Meetings
All non-essential board and committee meetings will be cancelled through early April. Check our website homepage calendar to determine if a meeting has been cancelled. Visit www.hudson.oh.us for meeting schedules.

Police Department
The Hudson Police Department is implementing temporary changes to prepare for and mitigate any impact of the COVID-19 Virus on safety forces and the community. This includes limiting exposure for officers and community by evaluating what services require an on-scene police presence versus those that can be handled by alternative means such as by phone. Certain calls that would be normally handled in person may now be handled and documented by an officer over the phone. This will not affect officers responding to serious calls in person and will not affect the quality or safety of services provided. The Hudson Police Department has also suspended fingerprinting assistance for non-criminal matters.

City Hall
Residents are encouraged to avoid in-person visits to City Hall and instead use the City’s online services where possible, mail, or email documents instead of bringing them to our building. Call the respective departments for specific needs or questions. Department phone numbers are available on our website. You can call (330) 650-1799 for assistance. The City’s app, Engage Hudson is another tool that can be used to communicate virtually about concerns to minimize in-person visits. The app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store, or through the Apple App Store.

Service Appointments
We encourage residents who are not feeling well or otherwise self-quarantined to reschedule appointments for service that require City personnel to enter their residence. Appointments requiring City personnel to enter residences may be preceded by a call from City staff which may include questions about health status.

Please visit the City’s website for more information at www.hudson.oh.us.
