Right-of-way acquisition is anticipated to be completed by late January, 2020. The next step for the project is for utility companies to begin moving infrastructure (pipes, poles, etc.) that may be in conflict with the roadway improvements. In addition, trees scheduled for removal within the project limits must be removed by March 15 to meet the project’s environmental permitting requirements. The utility relocation work and tree clearing work is scheduled for Spring 2020.
The major roadway project includes the addition of left turn lanes at Valley View Road, Herrick Park Drive & Hines Hill Road, resurfacing of SR 91 from Brandywine Drive to Middleton Road, the installation of an eight-foot sidewalk on the east side of the road from Brandywine Drive to Middleton Road, and bike lanes on both sides of the road from Brandywine Drive to Middleton Road, crosswalk enhancements, storm system improvements and lighting upgrades. In addition, the City of Akron is participating in the project with the construction of a new 16” water main between Herrick Park Drive and Middleton Road.
The project is scheduled to bid in April 2020 and begin construction in early summer. The project construction is anticipated to last two construction seasons and finish in the summer, 2021. The contractor will be required to maintain two-way traffic along SR 91 at all times during construction, but delays can be expected.
