Council Highlights

HUDSON, OH (February 17, 2021) – Following is a summary of the February 16, 2021 City Council Meeting. To watch the full meeting, visit www.hudson.oh.us/WatchMeetings.

Executive Session

Council went into executive session to interview applicants for the Board of Zoning and Building Appeals.

Public Hearing

Council held a public hearing for an application for a new agricultural use district for the property at 2242 Ravenna Street. Council previously approved similar applications since 1999, but the renewal deadline for 2020 was missed, and therefore, this application is considered a new request.

Public Comment

  • One resident wrote in favor of using traffic calming measures on Owen Brown Street and in other areas of Hudson.
  • Nine residents wrote in favor of the proposed number of pickle ball courts and moving forward soon on the project.

Correspondence and Council Comments

  • Snow Plowing: A Council member complimented the snow plowing team for the great work they did during this week’s snowstorm.
  • In-Person Council Meetings: Council will consider going back to a hybrid of in-person and remote Council meetings and workshops in the near future.

Consent Agenda

City Council passed the following items on the consent agenda.

  • Acknowledgement of receipt of the January 2021 Monthly Financial Report.
  • Adoption in concept of the Sidewalk and Trails Master Plan 2021-2025.
  • Amendments to the Traffic Code to remove or change references for clarity.
  • Authorization to advertise for bids for the Ingleside Drive Bridge Replacement Project.
  • Authorization to enter an agreement with the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District for funding assistance through the Community Cost-Share Program.
  • Authorization to contract with TSM Engineers, Inc. for the Adaptive Traffic Control System Improvement Project.  
  • Authorization to enter a service contract with Software Solutions, Inc. for annual financial software support.
  • Authorization to enter a contract with Ciuni & Panichi, Inc. to prepare the City’s 2020 financial statements.
  • Authorization to continue the service agreement with Axon Enterprise, Inc. for tasers for the Hudson Police Department.
  • Acceptance of grant funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency for COVID-related protective equipment and supplies for the Hudson Fire Department and EMS.

Legislation

  • Council passed (6-0) an authorization to enter an agreement with Everstream Solutions LLC for an internet circuit for Velocity Broadband.
  • A resolution to place the property at 2242 Ravenna Street in a new agriculture use district had its first reading.
  • An ordinance accepting the dedication of public streets, easements, and public improvements within Phases 1 and 2 of the River Oaks subdivision was on the agenda for its first reading. Council suspended the rules and passed the ordinance 6-0.
