What is a Brine Well?

Hudson Commons Brine Well

Hudson's water treatment plant relies on salt to process and treat water for our use. The City of Hudson has historically purchased large amounts of salt from private firms for water treatment. Over the last few years, Hudson staff researched and Council approved the installation of a brine well to mine salt solely for Hudson's use. The salt is now utilized for treatment of City of Hudson water in our own city water plan. This innovative, resourceful approach allows the City to manage its own water and save money.
