Executive Session

Council entered executive session to consider a personnel matter concerning the appointment of a public employee.

Council Comments

  • A representative of the Republic of Rwanda is in Hudson to discuss the possibility of creating a Sister City with a city in Rwanda.
  • Planning Commission. The text amendment to the LDC for American Fireworks passed 6-0 through PC. The Peg's Foundation project was approved for demolishing the old Merino wine shop and building an art gallery and offices.

Discussion Item

  • E. Streetsboro Street and Stow Road Sidewalk Project Discussion. A recommendation for the sidewalk location was made by the consultant. Council wants staff to go out to seek public input early in this project which is not scheduled for construction until 2023-2024. Staff will be scheduling an open house and setting up a comment form on Let’s Talk Hudson for those who cannot attend the meeting. Council also asked for sidewalk responsibilities regarding snow and ice be put up on the site.
  • 5-Year Plan. Staff will present 2022-2026 Five Year Plan Capital for the General Fund, Roads, Storm Water, Sidewalk & Trail, and Service. Council discussed and made recommendations.
  • Council Discussion of the Preferred Hauler Program for Residential Trash & Recycling Services. After a discussion regarding a single hauler vs. a preferred hauler, Council directed staff to investigate approving only two haulers which would include a Preferred Hauler and an Alternate. Only those two providers would be licensed to operate in Hudson. Staff will have this concept reviewed by the City Solicitor to see if this is something that the City can accomplish. Staff will report back to Council.
  • December Fireworks. Due to COVID-19, the July 2020 fireworks event was cancelled. As a credit for the cancelled show, American Fireworks provided a show in early December 2020. The business sector and many residents have expressed interest in having a similar display in December 2021 to kick off this year’s holiday season. Council directed staff to move forward with a fireworks display on December 4. The display would be subject to weather conditions and approval from the Hudson Fire Department.
