Council Highlights

Proclamation

  • Special Recognition of Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month.
  • Special Recognition proclaiming the week of March 13-19, 2022 “Sunshine Week” in Hudson.

Public Hearings

  • Public Hearing on the Ordinance to amend the historic district to include Roslyn Avenue and Elm Street.
    • One citizen spoke in favor of passing legislation. Encouraged Council to include the historic Middle School building in this district in the future.
  •  Public Hearing on the Ordinance to amend the City’s ward boundaries based on the 2020 Census results.
    • Citizen asked if our city is best served by an old map established when the Village and Township merged?

Public Comments

  • No public comments.

Council Comments

  • Council mentioned that the City is working on a redesign of the Ravenna Street property ponds. Staff is looking into a resident’s request to temporarily lower the ponds for some relief during flooding.
  • Council thanked staff for organizing and holding the Council Retreat. The Retreat was positive and well received by Council members.
  • The Architectural and Historic Board of Review approved the demolition of the wine store on First Street. Peg’s Foundation improvements are moving forward.
  • Council would like staff to explore the sewer rates for homes on well water. Can they get meters? Can they get a reduced rate? A council member asked staff to reach out to Summit County to see if something can be negotiated.  
  • The Park Board had a presentation on Hudson Springs Park and creating a Pollinator Meadow to encourage the growth of natural species in the area. They are recommending that the dog run be used to promote new growth. 
  • Council traditionally does not take a stand on world issues but focuses on local issues. While there is no Council position in the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, a member expressed his personal concerns for Ukraine at this time.

Consent Agenda

Consent agenda passed 7-0.

  • Resolution to advertise for bids and enter a contract for Veterans Trail Phase 3.
  • Resolution to advertise for bids and enter a contract for the 2022 Storm Sewer Lining Improvements Project.
  • Resolution to submit the Ellsworth Golf Course Storm Water Management Project for funding to the Ohio State Capital Budget.
  • Resolution authorizing the Rotary Club of Hudson to undertake a restoration project on the Boy Scout Cabin on the southwest Hudson green.

Legislation

  • Ordinance amending Part 12 of the Codified Ordinances to amend Section 1205.02 of the Official Zoning District Map with respect to the Historic District to included Elm Street and Roslyn Avenue. Second Reading.
  • Ordinance accepting public right-of-way dedication of City-owned land abutting Park Lane right of way. Third Reading. Passed 7-0.
  • Resolution to enter a 2-year agreement with FLOCK Group for an automatic license plate reading system. Third Reading. Motion to remove from consideration passed 7-0.
  • Ordinance amending Ward Boundaries in response to receipt of the 2020 Census data. Second Reading.
  • Ordinance establishing an interconnection policy for residential and commercial solar power generation systems to the City’s power grid. Second Reading.
  • Ordinance repealing the current Chapter 226 Campaign Finance Reform of the Codified Ordinances and enacting a new Chapter 226 Campaign Contribution Limits. Second Reading.
  • Resolution authorizing to enter an agreement with the Hudson Community Living Company for the sale of a portion of the City-owned property on South Oviatt Street. Second Reading.
  • Ordinance amending Section 14800.04 of the Codified Ordinances regarding public nuisances, weeds, or tall grass and adopt new provisions related to abatement. First Reading.
  • Resolution to enter into a purchase and sale agreement with Jo-Ann Stores to acquire real property for a public purpose. First Reading.
  • Resolution to enter a Community Reinvestment Area (CRA) agreement with UYS Properties and Anchor Seasons Road Owner, LLC for a medical office building on Seasons Road. First Reading.
