Chief Jerry Varnes recently presented an overview of Hudson Fire and EMS to City Council. Chief Varnes explained the common misconception that can come with the designation "volunteer department." He emphasized that both Hudson's Fire and EMS are highly trained to the same level as full-time firefighters and paramedics/EMTs with other cities, and many of our members have certifications and training beyond the level required. Because of the nature of Hudson Fire, we have more firefighters capable of responding to a fire than any other neighboring city with full-time departments. Hudson is fortunate to be home to so many experienced, dedicated, and skilled first responders. Listen to the full presentation below to understand how Hudson Fire and EMS are among the best first responders around.
