Council Highlights

Following is a summary of the April 19, 2022 City Council Meeting. To watch the meeting, visit www.hudson.oh.us/WatchMeetings.

Recognition of Mayor Anzevino

  • To meet the time requirement required by the City Charter for appointment of a Mayor, Jeff Anzevino was sworn in as Mayor on April 14th, followed by a recognition swearing in by State Senator Kristina Roegner at this Council meeting.

Honorary Resolution

  • The Mayor read a resolution honoring and thanking Hudson City employee Glenn Pask for his service to the Hudson community upon his retirement

Proclamation

  • The Mayor proclaimed April as “National Donate Life Month” in Hudson. 

Public Comments

  • A resident thanked Council and the new Mayor for their selection of board/commission members and Mayor based on qualifications, not politics. The resident also felt the legislation to appeal the campaign finance law was based on secondary agendas.

Correspondence and Council Comments

  • Council reminded residents that this week is Earth Week and the City is hosting daily events to celebrate. Check the Special Events Calendar on the City website (www.hudson.oh.us/Events) for more information.
  • Council thanked the organ donor recipients who spoke at the meeting for sharing their stories and thanked all those who are organ donors. 

Report of Manager

  • The Acting City Manager welcomed Mayor Anzevino and announced that the Hudson Police Department swore in three new officers this week. 

Appointments

  • With Jeff Anzevino appointed as Mayor, his seat on the Architectural and Historic Board of Review is now open. Applications will be accepted until May 6.

Consent Agenda

Council passed the Consent Agenda 7-0.

  • Motion to acknowledge the timely receipt of the March 2022 Monthly Financial Report.
  • Ordinance amending Ordinance No. 21-125, making appropriations for the current expenses and other expenditures of the City during 2022 and making additional or amended appropriations related to the first quarter of 2022.
  • Resolution to advertise for bids and enter a contract of testing and preventative maintenance of the Prospect Electric Substation.
  • Ordinance amending Ordinance 22-25 changing the policy for connection of residential and commercial solar power generation systems to Hudson’s power grid.
  • Resolution to enter an agreement with DiCaudio, Pitchford and Yoder LLC for City Solicitor services with the appointment of Marshal Pitchford as City Solicitor.
  • Resolution to approve Then and Now Certificates.

Legislation

  • Ordinance Amending Part 12 of the Codified Ordinances Section 1205.02 to rezone certain lands on South Oviatt to rezone parcel 320031 (presently D5 Village Core) and parcel 3200328 (presenting D4 Historic Residential Neighborhood) and a portion of 3201843 (presenting D4 Historic Residential Neighborhood) to District 3 - Outer Village Residential Neighborhood. Third Reading. Passed 7-0.
  • Resolution to authorize advertising for bids and entering a contract for the Seasons Road Waterline Project. Third Reading. Passed 4-3.
  • Resolution approving the application by Douglas & Stephen J. Hasbrouck, 6403 Stow Road, for placement of land in a current agricultural district. Second Reading.
  • Resolution approving the application by Louis and Deborah Estergall, 3074 Ravenna Street, for placement of land in a current agricultural district. Second Reading.
  • Ordinance repealing, in its entirety, Chapter 226, “Campaign Finance Reform” of the Codified Ordinances. Second Reading.
  • Ordinance amending Part 12 of the Codified Ordinances to amend section 1205.02 of the Official Zoning Map to rezone lands on South Oviatt Street from District 4-Village Core to District 3-Outer Village Residential Neighborhood. First Reading.
