Council Highlights

Executive Session

  • Council entered executive session to interview an applicant for the position of City Manager

Proclamation

  • Special Recognition of the Induction of Public Power Lineworkers from Hudson Public Power and Other Public Power Communities into the American Municipal Power, Inc. (AMP) Wall of Fame.

Public Comments

  • A representative from Windstream Communications provided Council with a map of where its fiber is available in Hudson. 

Correspondence and Council Comments

  • No special meeting will be necessary with only one issue on the agenda. 

Report of Manager

  • The City installed new microphones in Town Hall. Now we have an overhead microphone to pick up voices that are not standing at the podium microphone. 
  • The pedestrian signals at Atterbury Road and SR 303 and near the Clock Tower on SR 91 will be installed in late July. 
  • Brush pickup continues through next week. 
  • The Asphalt Program is 90% complete. 
  • No executive session needed this evening.

Discussion Item

  • Prohibiting City Employees from Serving on Boards and Commissions. Council discussed legislation that would prohibit City employees from serving on Boards and Commissions. In the City Charter, it is not permitted. The legislation would align with the Charter. The City Solicitor will bring back legislation with specifics about volunteers, etc.

Appointments

  • Karl Wetzel was appointed to the Architectural and Historic Board of Review, partial term, and Paul Stoehr was appointed for a full term on the Tree Commission.  

Consent Agenda

Council passed the following Consent Agenda items. Passed 7-0.

  • A Motion to Acknowledge the Timely Receipt of the May 2022 Monthly Financial Report.
  • Resolution authorizing to award the Clock Tower Repair Project. 
  • Resolution to enter an agreement with Excellence Inc. for the upgrade, repairs and modifications to ambulance compartments and lighting and installation of a rear patient compartment air conditioning system. 

Legislation

  • Ordinance amending Codified Ordinance Sections 660.08(c)(4)(D) and 672.12(f)(2) and regulating the use of consumer grade fireworks. Third Reading. Passed 7-0.
  • Ordinance amending Sections 220.03, 220.031, 220.06, and 222.02 of the Codified Ordinances to add provisions governing the introduction of Ordinances and Resolutions on regular and special City Council agendas. Second Reading. 
  • Resolution amending the City’s Storm Water Policy. Second Reading.
  • Ordinance amending Section 660.22 “Obstructing Sewers and Watercourses” of the General Offenses Code. Second Reading.
  • Resolution appealing Resolution No. 21-149 and withdrawing the authorization granted to enter into a purchase and sale agreement with Fairmount Properties, LLC for the sale of property located in the downtown area adjacent to First & Main. Second Reading.
