Project Overview - View Project Website Here
American Transmission Systems, Incorporated (ATSI), a FirstEnergy company, evaluated the existing transmission system in and around the cities of Akron, Cuyahoga Falls, Hudson, Silver Lake and Stow in Summit County and identified the need to construct a new 138-kV substation (Riverway Substation) and two new 138-kV transmission lines to connect the new substation with the existing 138-kV transmission system. One line will extend approximately seven miles from the existing Darrow Substation in Hudson to the proposed Riverway Substation in Cuyahoga Falls, and the second line will extend approximately five miles from the Evans Substation in Akron to the Riverway Substation. The transmission lines will be supported primarily by wood pole structures, using steel poles only where necessary.
Construction of the proposed project will reinforce the transmission and distribution systems for approximately 49,000 customers in the communities of Akron, Cuyahoga Falls, Hudson, Silver Lake and Stow. In addition, the project will allow for greater operational flexibility and future load growth.
Public Open House August 17; Virtual Option Available Now
ATSI invites you to an informal, public open house about ATSI’s proposed Darrow-Riverway & Evans-Riverway 138 Kilovolt Transmission Line Project on Wednesday, August 17, 2022. The open house is from 6-8 p.m. in the Cuyahoga Falls Downtown Pavilion located at 2085 Front Street, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221. The open house will provide an initial overview of the entire project.
If you are unable to attend in-person, a virtual public meeting platform can be viewed at any time. The virtual public meeting contains the same information that will be available at the in-person meeting. There is an interactive map and multiple ways to leave input/comments. View the virtual meeting here.
Some landowners in Hudson may be affected by this project. Those who may be affected should have received a letter detailing the project and inviting them to the open house.
