Fleet Response donated 12 pedal cars, worth $2,828, to Hudson’s Safety Town to educate incoming kindergartners about pedestrian and motorist safety.
The Hudson Community Education and Recreation’s (HCER) Safety Town educates incoming kindergarteners on the importance and methods of safety through hands-on activities under the guidance of the Hudson Police and Fire departments. Children learn in a miniature village with houses, traffic signs, and railroad crossings.
This year, Safety Town hosted 268 incoming kindergartners divided into four sessions from June 20 to July 1.
After the program, each child graduates with the knowledge of how properly to cross the street, use playground equipment, pedestrian and motorist laws, safety signs to play, bus procedures, and stranger danger.
“Both the City of Hudson and Hudson Community Education and Recreation want to thank Fleet Response for this generous donation,” said Hudson Police Chief Perry Tabak. “It’s the support of Hudson companies like Fleet Response that help make valuable programs like Safety Town a success.”
