Happy America Recycles Day! The City and Environmental Awareness Committee (EAC) continue to provide recycling education and promote recycling initiatives. Here are some of the recent programs to encourage recycling.
Have you noticed a new, fenced bin behind the Shell gas station on SR 303? The City recently installed a business recycling bin so businesses can dispose of paper and cardboard. Waste trucks do not directly service all of downtown because it’s not possible to maneuver the trucks in the limited turnaround areas. Providing a shared bin gives downtown businesses an opportunity to recycle in Hudson rather than transporting material elsewhere. The bin is accessible by code for participating downtown businesses only.
Have you seen the “Your Butt Here” signs on our downtown trash cans? The City installed cigarette recycling receptacles this summer. Cigarette butts are one of the most frequently littered items in the U.S. When they’re left on the ground, the toxins leak into our waterways and pose health threats for everyone. Please place your cigarette butts in our convenient receptacles.
Looking for a location to recycle electronics? Our E-Waste Recycling Bin in the back parking lot of City Hall on Terex Road is an easy way to recycle old phones, cords, computers, and more. Visit the Summit County E-Waste website for a list of all allowable items and drop off your old electronics next time you’re at City Hall.
Will you be decorating for the holidays? The Holiday Lights Recycling Program is back! As you come across broken lights, you can drop them off at one of seven collection bins around town. Lights will be stripped down and as much material as possible will be recycled. Look out for updates on the City’s social media and see full details at www.hudson.oh.us/RecycleHolidayLights.
These services are just a few ways that Hudson is promoting sustainability and care for our beautiful City.
