Council Highlights

Proclamation

  • Special Recognition for Poppy Days. Mayor Anzevino proclaimed May 20th and May 21st as Poppy Days in Hudson, recognizing the American Legion Auxiliary.

Public Comments

  • Resident spoke in opposition to the legislation that amends the procedure for placing items on Council agendas. 

Correspondence and Council Comments

  • Park Board. 120 saplings were donated and companies helped plant. 
  • HCTV received grant from American Endowment Foundation for $10,000, the largest donation to date. The new equipment programming system budgeted by Council is now in place and offers more efficiency for staff and great access to programming.
  • Leadership Hudson Class will be holding a scavenger hunt with an after party on June 4. Visit www.ClocktowerQuest.com for information. 
  • Councilman Sutton has offered alternate legislation for the amending of how items are placed on Council agendas. This will be discussed at the Council Workshop on May 24th.
  • Council thanked staff for the Road Tour on Saturday and acting on the Brownfield Grant. The City’s PCI rating is 78%, the best in the State of Ohio.
  • A meeting of the H.O.M.E Committee was held with the schools. The Committee will continue to meet quarterly. 

Report of Manager

  • Staff asks that Item D on the Legislation Agenda be suspended and passed tonight.
  • The City Manager thanked staff for the Road Tour and Council and the taxpayers for providing the funding for the roads. 

Appointments

  • Marilyn Orr was appointed to the Cemetery Board. Brian Bataglia was appointed to a partial term on Architectural and Historic Board of Review. 

Consent Agenda

Council passed the following Consent Agenda items. Passed 7-0.

  • Motion to acknowledge the timely receipt of the April 2022 Monthly Financial Report.
  • Resolution to purchase an electrical substation transformer from OTC Services.
  • Resolution to bid and award contracts for the Eastside Substation Transformer Replacement Project.
  • Resolution to approve a Then and Now Certificate.
  • Resolution to accept the $211,612 Brownfield Remediation Grant Cleanup/Remediation Program funding from the Ohio Department of Development

Legislation

  • Ordinance to amend the Ward Boundaries in response to the 2020 U.S. Census data. Third Reading Passed 7-0.
  • Ordinance amending Part 12 of the Codified Ordinances to amend section 1205.02 of the Official Zoning Map to rezone lands on South Oviatt Street from District 4-Village Core to District 3-Outer Village Residential Neighborhood. Third Reading. Passed 7-0.
  • Resolution accepting recommendations of the Tax Incentive Review Council to continue Community Reinvestment Area agreements and Job Creation Grant program agreements. Second Reading.
  • Resolution establishing a Steering Committee to update the City’s Comprehensive Plan. Second Reading. Motion to suspend the rules was made and after discussion was withdrawn. The emergency clause will remain. Second Reading
  • Ordinance amending Sections 220.03, 220.031, 220.06, and 222.02 of the Codified Ordinances to add provisions governing the introduction of Ordinances and Resolutions on regular and special City Council agendas. First Reading. Council President Chris Foster is withdrawing his version to consider Councilman Sutton’s version.
  • Ordinance amending Codified Ordinance Sections 660.08(c )(4)(D) and 672.12(f)(2) and regulating the use of consumer grade fireworks. First Reading. 

Executive Session

Council entered executive session and invited Council and staff to consider the purchase and sale of public property.
