HUDSON, OH (February 17, 2023) – In response to questions about Hudson’s watershed, Hudson is not in the same watershed as East Palestine, Ohio. Whether you receive City of Hudson, City of Akron, City of Stow, or City of Cleveland water, your water comes from the Lake Erie Watershed and it flows from the north near Lake Erie southward.
East Palestine is in the Ohio River Watershed, the water flows from East Palestine into Beaver Creek to the Ohio River and south to the Mississippi River.
The EPA and Summit County Public Health have stated there is no impact to the City of Hudson.
Additionally, our City of Hudson Water comes from groundwater sources, rather than surface water sources. Surface water typically is more prone to experience environmental impacts.
For more information about the environmental impacts of the East Palestine incident, visit www.EPA.Ohio.gov. They are providing information updates, testing results, and other news about this event.
We will continue to provide information on our website, in social media, and in our weekly Hudson E-News as we receive it from the EPA and other agencies working on mitigating the environment effects.
For more information visit East Palestine Train Derailment.
