In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15th, as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week. Normally, tens of thousands of law enforcement officers from around the world travel to Washington, DC to participate in events which honor those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice. There are also many local ceremonies including those put on by The Cuyahoga Falls/Silver Lake Police Memorial and Honor Guard Foundations and the Greater Cleveland Peace Officer’s Memorial Society.
As this year’s National Police Week approaches, I want to thank all my staff at the Hudson Police Department for their commitment to the job and the community. I also want to thank the community for their support and commitment to the Hudson Police Department.
Thank you,
Chief Perry Tabak
POLICE OFFICER'S PRAYER
Lord I ask for courage
Courage to face and
Conquer my own fears...
Courage to take me
Where others will not go...
I ask for strength
Strength of body to protect others
And strength of spirit to lead others...
I ask for dedication
Dedication to my job, to do it well
Dedication to my community
To keep it safe...
Give me Lord, concern
For others who trust me
And compassion for those who need me...
And please Lord
Through it all
Be at my side...
