At the City Council meeting on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, Council authorized the City Manager to enter into a purchase and sale agreement with Hudson Drive Realty for property on Hudson Drive for a new public works facility. Since 2016, the City has explored plans to combine all Public Works operations and storage yards into one single structure for greater efficiencies, including tangible financial and operational benefits. When completed, the conceptual plan will bring both facilities into one location, improve Public Works operational efficiencies, better meet employee and visitor needs, and eliminate cross-town travel multiple times a day. Design of the new facility is anticipated for 2023-2024, with construction to begin in 2024-2025.
Currently, the City’s Public Works Division is located in Georgetown Road leased space. The divisions include street maintenance, signs, storm water maintenance, water distribution, fleet services, and administrative support. Hudson Public Power, a division under Public Works, originally was housed at the Owen Brown Street location and since has moved to a facility on Hudson Drive.
The new combined facility on Hudson Drive is anticipated to cost $20 million. For more information, visit www.hudson.oh.us/PublicWorksFacility.
