During Thanksgiving week, Hudson Fire Department members, Hudson City Schools employees, and volunteers helped distribute items from the Annual Holiday Food Drive to 75 Hudson families and senior citizens in need. Each family received a $100 Giant Eagle gift, $75 ACME gift card, a complete turkey dinner, one box of canned food, two boxes of dry goods, and one laundry detergent bottle. Hudson City Schools, at the direction of Social Worker Julie Schultz, collected and organized the food for distribution.
The Giant Eagle gift cards were purchased with donations from City of Hudson employees, volunteers, Hudson Fire Department members, and Giant Eagle. The ACME gift cards were purchased by local Hudson churches. The turkey dinner totes were supplied by local Hudson churches. Other donations were collected by the Thrasher Group. The families were grateful for these generous donations that allowed them to have a memorable Thanksgiving.
"We are thankful that we were able to help put smiles on so many faces this," said Hudson Fire/EMS Chief Jerry Varnes. "This is one small example of why we do what we do."
